St John was founded in 1890 as St. Lukes with meeting at different people’s houses. In 1895 was renamed to St. John. Our first building was a white wooden structure that served the church well until 1916 when our current building was dedicated.
We have had 5 pastors serving us. In 1900, Pastor Immanuel Albrecht was our first permanent pastor, the years before St. John was served by area pastors. Pastor Albrecht was here until 1951, then W.F. Vatthauer was the next pastor to serve here until 1972.
Then Pastor Vomhoff was pastor from 1973-1982. Pastor Vomhoff saw the building of the All Purpose room. Then Pastor Roger Woller was our pastor from 1982-2009. He was able to celebrate 100 years of St. John School and the Creation of Prairie Lutheran School.
